Brown Robin Capital represents the capital and experience of a team of seasoned business operators, entrepreneurs, investors and leaders. The fund is operated by its managing partners, Lucas Braun and Ryan Robinson. It is backed by 13 high net worth individuals and 1 institutional investor. In addition to providing access to substantial capital, these investors bring years of experience in assessing investment opportunities, managing acquisitions and ownership transitions, and growing businesses in a variety of industries. They are investing their personal assets in Brown Robin Capital and will serve as advisors and directors in any Brown Robin acquisition. As a result, any company in which Brown Robin Capital invests stands to benefit from the advice and guidance of some of the nation’s most successful business leaders.
Prior to founding Brown Robin Capital, Lucas worked as a consultant for Mercer Management Consulting (now Oliver Wyman). At Mercer Management, he led and worked on numerous board level strategy engagements for companies in the technology and media sectors as a part of the Communications, Media, and Technology (CMT) practice. Prior to joining the CMT group, Lucas worked for companies in a number of industries on strategy, marketing, and operations engagements ranging from organizational design, to in-depth customer segmentation, to sourcing strategy and the development of operational models.
Lucas holds an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. While at Stanford, he worked in the corporate development group at Yahoo! Inc. Lucas also worked with local bay area companies, like LucasFilms and DoubleClick, advising them on various issues from strategic expansion to sales force compensation. Lucas holds a BA in Government from Dartmouth College, where he was a member of the Dean’s list.
Prior to founding Brown Robin Capital, Ryan worked as an investment professional at Farallon Capital Management. At Farallon, Ryan managed $250 million of public and private investments in the energy and business services sectors with another analyst, overseeing the investment process from investment sourcing to the eventual sale. During business school, Ryan worked with a successful search fund acquisition, Aero Logistics. At Aero, Ryan managed a wide variety of operational areas, from customer reporting to accounts receivable collections to sales force operations. Ryan also developed the company’s first marketing strategy, and he led the re-design of the company’s website and printed marketing materials.Ryan holds an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. He also holds a BS in Economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated cum laude.
